So to cut through the double negative, you’re coming?

I'll have a final say tomorrow afternoon when my supervisor is finished trying to cover my Saturday shift, then I'll look at train services.

Unfortunately, I will also have to withdraw my attendance due to this snow.

ATW cut all train services from Cardiff to the Valleys today, with the last train arriving at Abercynon (from Cardiff) at 15:15....with this weather set to keep thick until Saturday, I cannot risk being stuck between Birmingham and Cardiff.

Gutted as I was really looking forward to this.

ATW services are going to be disrupted significantly regardless of the weather- most of the 175 fleet and a number of 158s were taken out of service with damaged wheelsets yesterday.

150/142 ACY—CDF, then XC170 CDF-BHM but yeah - snow sucks. Hopefully there is another chance before the year is out.

Yes.

I am now wondering if I will end up reconsidering. Snow here is quite thick in Bristol and the possibility is of more for Saturday. I wonder if the meet will end up getting postponed at best: I wouldn't be surprised.

The meet will go ahead for those that can make it.

Thanks. I tend not to book though. I get the ticket from Bristol Temple Meads but split the fare to keep the cost down: £44.90 return if I split it but £56.90 if I don't.

Having looked on the weather radar I have on my phone it looks now as if there is a gap coming up from the south coast and no lingering weather over France. The heavy stuff that could have come my way last night from the south has not done so and is now over the Irish sea.

Just for clarification, the meet will still go ahead tomorrow even if there are fewer people attending than expected. I will not be attending as we are still snowed in and cannot yet get to the A1 or Alnmouth Station (which would be pointless in any event at the moment as the ECML is still closed north of Newcastle).

In my absence, Karl (Headshot119) will be liaising with the Soloman Cutler and if Karl is unable to get to Birmingham, Alan (agilchrist) or John (Meld) will be making sure that things happen.

Because of the logistical difficulties there won't be any name badges at the meet but I am sure people can survive without them!

Hope that people do manage to attend and that you all have a good time.

Unfortunately it is looking likely that I won’t be able to attend the meet now. Having been stranded at work from last night and still not looking likely to make it home anytime soon, I feel that I won’t be able to travel to my booked departure station, or another alternative in time.

Just to confirm that Alan and myself are now safely in Birmingham, so if Karl does get stranded in his endeavours to get back here tonight (from Cornwall), we can happily go ahead tomorrow

Snow also arrived at same time.
Bonus though got a free ride on the tram, the man was too slow.

I may be forced to rethink if the trains betwen Severn Beach and Bristol TM and / or between Bristol TM and Birmingham New Street fail to run: trying to get my car out would be unwise.

I may not know for sure until tomorrow morning whether I will be there.

That's a good start. GWR have not said anything for Bristol Temple Meads to Severn Beach though and I don't fancy trying to get my car to Temple Meads in view of the road conditions in my part of Bristol.

I won't know whether I'm coming until the morning. SWMBO insists I need to check the roads are clear and the trains are running before I leave home. It was looking good earlier, but we've had 3 or 4 cm in the last couple of hours.

GWR say 0800 start for west of England services and XC say hourly. Depends on the weather though as to whether (!) I get to Birmingham or not.
