Ok, so time to swallow my pride here and ask as the manual is (in my opinion anyway) disappointing and I don’t want to admit defeat. I have several other sims and not experienced anything like this before. I open the default timetable and set to start at midnight. I have both 5M74 and also 5H28 all going to Longsight Car.M.D.
So it appears I may be stupid to some, as it may be obvious, but what steps do I need to take to route these trains into Longsight Car.M.D from the down lines and up lines please? Once I know I guess it will be simple.
I have read the section on Longsight in the manual and it says various, what I assume are signal numbers (MP--) but how can I reference them against anything with no signal guide?
Any help would be appreciated because I am frustrated over what would appear to be a tiny issue.

Place a phone call to either Longsight North (Picccadilly end) or Longsight South (13/26) (trains from Airport or Stockport). The shunter will give you the slot after a couple of minutes. There's only one way in at the south end, at the north end the slot will be given for Down Shed, Up Shed etc.- this is indicated by the lights near the top right of Longsight panel. You should send the train to whichever siding you've been given the slot for.

Those 5 lines of text have been more help to me than anything in the manual. Thanks very much... Just tried and managed to route both said trains...

Thanks again for taking the time to spell it out simply and easily

Brian

Right click on signals and their ID will be at the top of the popup box that appears. Longsight isnt a massive panel and only a small number of signals route into the depot so process of elimination can be used.

I wish there was a similarly easy-to-use facility to identify points and TCs.

There is a simple method:

Press F11 to open the incident control panel.

Navigate to the relevant tab (point, track section etc)

Press the mouse icon above the list box.

Then click the point/TC you want to know the number of; it will highlight in the list.

There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Only downside to this is if you are in a multiplayer & you are NOT the host, then you cannot access that menu!

Realistically though, how often do you need to identify those features? I can only think of bug reporting.

In Multiplay, you can always stick a reminder on them to identify them to other players if they've failed.

Well I must be missing a setting ticked because I don't have that option. Oh and trust me I used much 'process of elimination'!!

Press Ctrl + right click (it might be Shift + right click)

F3-> Control, untick 'Right click cancels route'. Or leave the box as it is and shift + right click on a signal.
