is there a way to cancel a service without getting a penalty for removing a train during disruption?

3922 posts 		Is this before the train has entered the area? If so, open F4-> Timetables, highlight the train you want and click 'Mark (un)entered'.

If it's in the area, you can use F2 to run the train to another timetable.

Remember, removing a train from sim should always be considered a very very last resort, for two reasons. Firstly, a signaller in reality would not be able to just get a magic crane and lift a train from his area, and secondly, in some sims, this can cause issues in running the simulation for later trains.

Absolutely, hence why I was asking about cancelling a service in opposed to deleting it
