If I was a betting man, which I am not, then I reckon these will be the Australian ones which were seen, albeit not played, at the London meet
Dave
Don't think they'll be the Aussie ones Dave

As we are just under 5 weeks away from the Birmingham meet, I am please to announce that 3 brand new, never before seen simulations will be on display at the Birmingham meet. Two of these will be open to people being able to play them,
as they were seen in London.

I'll plump for

Ashford (Kent)
Basingstoke
Channel Tunnel

Ashford CTRL and Woking box would be welcome additions. Here's to me hoping!

I agree, Woking would make a good addition together with Basingstoke however I would be equally as happy to see Guildford as well as Eastleigh!

Basingstoke and Eastleigh as you could chain them to Salisbury as well as providing a replacement for the Southampton sim.

Woking as you could chain it to Wimbledon and onto Guildford? and Basingstoke.

Guildford because it could be chained to I think Wimbledon/Horsham?

The Channel Tunnel would be interesting as would it just be the tunnel section or would it include the entire section from Dollands Moor to Coquelles?

Ashford I believe could be chained to Maidstone East as well as I think Victoria South Eastern?

That said with VSE, I look forward to the current era with the correct layout at Blackfriars.

My guess is that the manuscript for Keith's book will be available for perusal.

Hmm. OK then. Ammended list of speculation from me would be:

- Far West (Plymouth to Penzance, incl. branches)
- Port Talbot (or something else Welsh)
- Stourbridge Junction
- Manchester South
- Manchester East
- Preston
- Walsall
- Colchester ASC (incl. Norwich & Ipswich)
- Woking
- Basingstoke
- Wessex (Salisbury to Exeter)

Woking and Basingstoke would fill the gap between Salisbury and Waterloo. As far as Wessex is concerned such a sim would presumably be from the days when tehre were manual boxes although I think it would be better if laid out according to the panel in Basingstoke ASC.

Ashford as in the IECC? Would be good in its current layout but if so then the Channel Tunnel would come out as part of an Ashford sim because the Channel Tunnel comes under the Dollands Moor workstation.

Aye. Would come under Port Talbot of course which would be a nice sim IMO. Would have to incorporate the working area of Tondu box for completeness perhaps, partly due to the Maesteg - Bridgend route and also the route from Tondu to Port Talbot (which, I gather, still exists).

While I have no idea, I'm hoping it's Eastleigh! Though I've been around on this forum on and off for quite some time this is actually the first meet I can make it to, so I'm looking forward to this!

It does still exist - I'm (along with a few other SimSiggers) on a railtour over it in a month!

With Doncaster we could have a nice little ECML chain Kings Cross, Peterborough, Doncaster, Leeds, York and Newcastle!

Crewe fringes with Stafford/Rugby SCC and Preston right?

No.

Crewe is controlled by a multitude of boxes- a panel for the station area, lever frame boxes (Crewe Coal Yard, Basford Hall Jn) immediately north and south on the WCML respectively, Crewe Steelworks on the Chester line and Gresty Lane (replaced by a workstation in the same building as Crewe power box in 2015). The Goods lines are controlled by two lever frame boxes, the line to Stoke fringes with Stoke-on-Trent just east of Kidsgrove, the Manchester line fringes with Manchester South once clear of the station area.

Working northwards, Crewe Coal Yard fringes with Winsford, which controls are far as Weaver Jn (inclusive), then control passes to Warrington PSB, which controls as far as Standish, where it fringes with Preston PSB.

Southwards, Basford Hall Jn fringes to Rugby ROC.

Yes Doncaster would enable a chain from Kings Cross to Newcastle, via. Peterborough, Leeds and York. Would be a lot of fun. I am not sure how many miles of railway that would add up to or how many players would be needed: can anyone enlighten us?

Crewe fringes to Stafford in terms of sims but IRL it would now be split up as follows:

- Stafford no. 4 and Stafford no. 5 boxes closed 29-Aug-2015 with control passing to Rugby ROC using signal codes LS, WS and SC.

- Stoke SCC took over the Norton Bridge (effective 24-Jun-2004), Colwich (effective 10-Jun-2005) and Madeley (effective 26-Jun-2004) areas while Tamworth comes under Rugby ROC. I would be interested to know why the area was split up that way (ie. why Colwich didn't pass to Rugby ROC instead of Stoke SCC).

Thank you guys, I'm not as familiar with the WCML as I am of the ECML however as I now live near the former it's I'm slowly learning what does what! :)

If I'm right, Doncaster sim would not only chain with Leeds Ardsley but also South Humberside, Worksop, Trent, Peterborough, Sheffield and York North/South so a reasonable amount of the Midlands!

That is of course providing such connections are available from the get go!

Sounds just like Willesden Brent in days of yore... I often said we should pull all the track up, shunt on Old England and station the BDVs there permanently, just rerail each train as it came to depart rather than wait for the vans to come from the TMD :-)

My £ is on Preston, Warrington, Reading. Based on the fact that all have been done by other railway sim makers and also fall within the remit of Simsig, as to what they can or cannot do!

You will have noted in the opening post that I mentioned one of the three new simulations may be limited to testers only... Well the developer and his team of testers have put in a huge amount of effort this week to make me look like a liar! I'm pleased to say that all three simulations will be available for anyone who attends the meet to play on the day.

As an added bonus, if you attend the meet and are the first person to have guessed one of the simulations on show in this thread, you can claim a free pint off of me.

Seeing as Tyneside and York was once on that list and they have been produced, I like to know what the current restrictions are.

Reading has been produced for SimSig if not yet released as I believe Slough has also been produced but is yet to be released.

It could be Leicester or even another LUL sim with Piccadilly line being done

My burning question is as we've done Heavy Rail and Metro Tube, could we see a Tram network ie Croydon Tramlink?
