Reigate Signal Box.

I pass this signal box quite often as I live locally. I can remember seeing the signaller turning a large wheel to operate the old crossing gates. The gates were replaced by barriers some time ago and the wheel probably went at the same time.

I recently Googled 'Reigate Signal Box' and read on one of the links, that this box was due to be closed in 2017. However, it's still operational. My understanding is that it controls or controlled the area between Shalford and Redhill (although not Redhill itself). I say 'controlled' because I have also read somewhere that it now only monitors and controls the Reigate level crossing. Don't know whether this is true or not.

If the Reigate box no longer controls the afore mentioned area, is this area now controlled from the Three Bridges Signalling Centre?

Does anybody know the current state of affairs and what the future holds for the Reigate box?

Reigate box is still open and still controls the railway from Reigate to Gomshall.
Currently I have not heard of any plans to immediately close the box.

There was rumour from under the conraul that when Redhill was going to be resignalled and relocked with CBI that Reigate was gong to join it on the same workstation in TBROC. But as the project got descopped and then descopped again, this plan diapppared. Now whether this was a serious plan or just speculation, but it did at least make to one or two internal staff briefs at my location of work.
