I have seen in many Rail related magazines reference to Super 60's, but very little has ever been said about the difference between that and the regular Class 60. About all I know is that they underwent an overhaul which is often been discribed as an upgrade, but very little exists on what was allegedly upgraded, to make them "Super". I understand uprated power for the oil flows, but not 100% sure

I would say it's more to do with the re-gearing of the traction motors so the locos can pull a heavier load such as the oil trains as mentioned below. When I was on the loco control with EWS at the CSDC Doncaster Immingham depot used to use 56102 as there test bed engine. This one was different to all the others as it had re-geared traction motors to work specifically on the Deepcar branch. The other thing to note is that these locos would also have the extended range fuel tanks as not all Cl.60s had the extended fuel tanks fitted.
