When I take the train from Kings Cross to Edinburgh Haymarket to visit relatives, it usually takes about 4 hours 20 minutes, with stops at York, Darlington, Newcastle and Berwick.
With this lovely hot weather and speed restrictions, how much longer would you expect this journey to take?

Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate.

You could always look at Real Time Trains or Open Train Times to see how late trains are typically arriving at the Waverley.

Depends entirely on the severity of the restrictions unfortunately.

If the restrictions are in force now - the 1800 London to Edinburgh is around 7L; so that would indicate that level of delay.

Had enough of speed restrictions already but I know they are necessary.

During my signalman training on Saturday 30th June we had a PF at one station only for control to then impose a blanket 20mph speed restriction end-to-end on the heritage railway where I am in training and this 20mph applied to all classes and types of motive power due to the fire risk and risk of problems caused by heat. Made everything run 30mins late in no time at all. Most annoying.
