Should Sheffield ROC's manual be located in the Eastern and anglia section rather than Midland?

It's part Of LNE and has been since before privatisation?

As a separate question, the manual refers to Rotherham workstation and also Rotherham 1 and 2. Is there any reason for the split of Rotherham as the manual doesn't clarify this?

We were thinking about splitting the Rotherham w/s during testing as it is a very awkwardly shaped workstation. One person can still operate it, but if there are more people available it can be split in a sensible manner.

A tweak to the manual is probably wise.

While your at it this new Sheffield ROC manual under the heading chaining says that the West Yorkshire sim is not yet available. This could lead to a misunderstanding. I.e. it’s not available or it is available but does not chain to West Yorkshire

I've amended that section.

Both are available and both chain to each other

Vaguely related to the Rotherham 1/2 panel question; but is the indicated Sheffield panel controlled by just one signaller (which seems a massive area to control considering it contains the station itself) or does the ROC technology allow it to be divided as required?
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

It is just a single work station.

The only ones I am aware of where the work station is duplicated are Leeds East, Manchester East and Manchester South.

For Leeds there is the Main work station and what is referred to as the Assist work station. During the day the workload is split in a similar way to the East 1 and East 2 work stations in the simulation.

At Manchester East one Signaller usually controls the trains and the other deals with phone work with a third on a break - they rotate round every hour.

Next door in Manchester South only one signaller tends to signal at any one time with the other either on a break or assisting with any degraded working, line blocks etc.

Yes, but they do have automatic routesetting to help, though.

Ah yes, forgot about ARS (I generally play without it on SimSig) and the assistance that will give.

I thought it had been moved (assuming reference is to https://www.SimSig.co.uk/Wiki/Show?page=simulations ) when I made my comment earlier but it seems not. Old habits die hard - I believe locals still refer to it as Sheffield Midland!

And those of us not local who are old enough to remember when you had to specify Sheffield Victoria or Sheffield Midland!

Joe you'd be surprised by how many younger people refer to it as Midland Station.

Let us not forget, Meld quite likely remembers the opening of Sheffield Victoria station like it was yesterday, and its closure as if it was a century ago

@pedroathome 2 years and its half a century - thank you.

@sacro younger as in under 30 - on the work despatch system LMS is the 3 letter shortcut for 'Sheffield Railway Station' and likely to live on forever
