First, thanks for quickly fixing everything I reported.

I have observed in the sim that a number of distant arms of semaphores seem to be fixed distants. On the Dinting panel with dead end tracks and low linespeeds I understand, but also the distant in front of AMN14 and the distant arm under DJ17 appear to be fixed distants. I assume this has been done in according to reality? I am wondering why these signals need to be fixed distants. It is at least not mentioned in the Wiki of the sim.

I'll say that yes the signals in sim shown as a fixed distance are all fixed distance signals. The reason behind this, I don't know.

I'd suspect that in part, this is so that lever frames would not have required any relocking. The interesting one though to me is the intermediate block signal at Dinting, Signal DG32 with a line speed of 40mph, the highest speed of all.

I beleive Denton junctions was partly the relocking and partly maintenance reduction.

Maintenance reduction would be a big one. Each mechanical Distant involves perhaps a quarter-mile cable to work the arm (which will stretch and sag according to the time of year and requires periodic adjustment), and a remote lamp to illuminate the spectacles at night. Simply disconnecting the cable eliminates one of these costs; replacing with a reflectorised sign eliminates the other as well.
