I have the "train entering system" message set to show a pop-up. That means that when a new sim loads all of the seed trains generate a pop-up. That can generate well into double figures of pop-ups on a complex sim/TT.

When my machine has been recently booted-up these pop-ups zip through and are all showing in less than a couple of seconds laid out in a layered set of diagonally arranged pop-ups. The machine normally runs 24/7 and after the machine has been running for a day or two the rate at which the pop-ups generate is dramatically slowed. It can take 10 or 15 seconds for all the pop-ups to display and the nicely layered diagonal listing becomes much more of a random operation with disorganised layering and structure. The memory usage displayed by the Task Manager is not materially different so I hope that means that Windows 10 is not clogging things up as the machine runs for an extended period.

Has anyone else seen the same or can anyone offer an explanation (and even palliative action to avoid the problem in future)?

I tend to find that after a day or two, everything runs slow or begins to hang. I personally notice this with Firefox before anything else

====Edit====

I think its more a windows thing rather than anything else

With your greater expertise than mine have you ever managed to work out why Windows does get grumpy if you force it to stay awake too long? Or is it just a generic outcome of bloatware (all part of the unholy alliance between hardware and software vendors to force you bin your kit which has no problems of failing hardware so that you upgrade to the next generation of kit at your expense and to their profit)?

For what it's worth, in my day job as an IT professional, my Windows 10 desktop machine doesn't normally get rebooted between one Windows update and the next. It's not uncommon for it to run continuously for several weeks (currently I'm reading just over 15 days). I doubt your problem is that Windows itself has been running for too long.

My wife tends to leave quite a few tabs? open when searching the internet.
She's been told that doing this can slow things down a bit, as can having multiple programs open.

Don't know if that's true or not.

Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate.
