About a week ago, I cloned my existing hard disk (containing Simsig) with Acronis and migrated it to a larger SSD. I see now that all my licenses are shown on "another machine". I had always understood that licences were issued on a machine basis and if I changed out a hard drive then nothing would be affected. I have asked for (another) license unlock but can someone please explain how it does work? Vince Last edited: 06/11/2019 at 20:47 by VInce Reason: None given Log in to reply |

I know that your computer name has something to do with it as when I changed my computer name to allow me access to various things on my work server I also had to ask for an unlock.

It's based on a few things. Minor changes shouldn't affect it - but what might appear to be a minor change in control panel sometimes looks to SimSig like a bigger change so it says "hmm, not sure here"

Some common things that can cause this (And other products licensing) to think it's a new machine. - Internal component changes (Hard Drive, CPU, Motherboard etc) - Changing the computers name - Joining a domain, or leaving one - Messing about with certain registry keys "CHECK Do you stop at Capenhurst?" - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer Log in to reply The following user said thank you: VInce |
