When I try to set a route from MY3 to the exit triangle associated with Medway Quarry, nothing happens. This is true even if I swing the points manually. I can't see any ground frames or phone calls I need to make. What am I doing wrong?

You do actually:
Quote:
Medway Junction: Diverges to a privately owned single line. You need to phone ahead in order for the siding operator to issue a Train Order to approaching traffic.
If I remember correctly, it's Pacific National you need to phone.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

But that is talking about Marulan, which is in a different place on the diagram.

EDIT: Oh, I think I was confused by the position of the labels. I think I see now. Thanks!

Yes its Pacific National (PN) that you need to phone for a train order to be able to route the train off the sim. Similar to how some boxes you have to request a slot to the adjacent signal box for signalling a train over a single line.
I will say that this is not 100% clear who you need to phone in the manual. I shall put a request in for a manual note to be added
