In idle conversation that came up with someone had me wondering how many cases there are in the England, Wales and Scotland, where a color light Intermediate Block (IB) has a semaphore distant signal which reads up to it to provide the yellow / green aspect on approach.

I am aware of the situation at Workington Main No 2 where WN2.8 signal has a fixed semaphore distant underneath it which acts as a distant for WN2.11 signal.

Does anyone else have any other current (Not historical) examples?

Nothing I can think of currently, however, up until very recently (technically historical but very recent), Blackpool North No2 and Grimsby Marsh Junction.

Not main line (and not formally an IB), but the East Lancs has Home/Distant combos at Bury South exiting the loop, the distants read to a 2 aspect colour light on the other side of the Metrolink bridge.

The arrangement presumably allows shunting to take place on the Heywood branch, though why this would be desirable given the 'ski jump' I'm not sure.

EDIT: New Bridge on the NYMR as well, though again stretching the definition of IB.

Harringay Park Junc (Frame) had a Semaphore (Abliet Motor Worked) IB for the section to Gospel Oak (Panel) and the Semaphore Distant acted as the repeater for Gospel Oaks First signal, which is similar!

Should add this is historic as both boxes vanished when the Line to barking was electrified!

Elmton & Creswell, between Mansfield and Worksop. The Up IB home has two semaphore distants reading up to it, the outer co-located with the Up Home and the inner co-located with the Up Starter (i.e. section signal). Sadly it's pretty much permanently switched out nowadays, and probably won't be with us for much longer, but it's still occasionally switched in for one reason or another.
