Greetings all,

I figure it is probably best to put this here.

A member of another railway forum is doing the Cherwell Valley line (or, to be exact, a version of it) for Train Simulator and I offered to get some of the signalling information. However to give him a better idea of the layout, particularly around Banbury, I had thought to use a SimSig screenshot (from the Marylebone sim) and edit that by writing in the signal numbers. I realise that OTT has the signalling numbers but not such a good show of the layout.

Would use of the screenshot be infringing rules (ie copyright) in any way? I wouldn't have thought that this would do any harm but think it best to ask.

Cheers,
Dave

Is the representation on Traksy any help?

If you are allowed to do this, which I won't comment on, but if you are allowed to then you could just take a screenshot from the signal number diagram instead of having to edit on the signal number - or even just sending them the PDF.

One cannot copyright signal numbers, or indeed anything which is itself a representation of something else.

Now, if someone were to produce a signalling simulation of the same area with virtually identical screen layout (spacing, graphics, labelling), then I might have an issue.

Thanks for that Geoff. I wasn't sure if there was any copyright in regards the layout of the sim. The bloke I am in touch with says it is for Train Simulator so I think a signalling simulation here is not his intention.

Cheers,
Dave

Would it not be easier for him to just download the sim himself?

Or just go to the Wiki to access the pdf plan?
