Hi all,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzrrcfV-UWw&ab_channel=ValentaLamenter

Those of us involved in the mail operation at Derby in the 1980s will be fascinated by this film. All the van movements and train reporting numbers so familiar still but its all now consigned to history. Everything shown in the film has gone but remains a vivid memory for those of us who were involved.

Quite sad for me personally too to see colleagues who I worked with now sadly no longer with us. I know that Phil-jmw will no doubt recognise some people on here too.

I was on duty in the PSB when the Derby station footage was shot and a film crew were in the PSB although none of that footage appears to have been used in the programme.

Just a fascinating insight on what it used to be like.

A different world...

Vince

Thanks for the link. Absolutely fascinating (particularly as I have been involved in projects over the years at most of the locations shown in the piece). As you say, different world.

Edit: Some former Royal Mail colleagues have been equally taken with the piece. Many thanks again.

Hi Vince,

Yes, one or two familiar faces and some good memories of all those mail trains we used to deal with at Derby back in the day.

Phil.

Glad they liked it too - just a lot of memories for me...
