Presumably a fairly recent modification so only applicable to the latest era of Piccadilly, but it seems the Holding Siding (known as the Eastern Spur as well) has gained TC berths visible and active on Open Train Times and also allowing GSM-R registration at MP1162 (still placarded for the wildcard but it works). Took a train from there this morning and both the above were observed.
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

I've not narrowed down an exact installation date, they certainly predate platform 5 at Bolton, and platform 4 at Manchester Airport. Mantis 36634 raised.

Out of interest did you register with the wildcard there, or did you just let GSMR sort it out for you? And if you did the latter, what did you input as the signal ID?

"Passengers for New Lane, should be seated in the rear coach of the train " - Opinions are my own and not those of my employer

No, although it's still placarded for the wildcard it turns out. If I did register using the wildcard, any headcode I put in would work no questions asked from the system which is why we're normally supposed to phone the box first if the normal registration method doesn't work after three attempts.

I used 162 (knocking the first digit off for a three digit registration code) and it went through first time, though I had already checked open train times to see the headcode was in a berth.

Incidentally the Hazel Grove sidings also accept registration codes despite being placarded for the wildcard.
