Bi-di bug? 25/09/2022 at 20:46 #148152

Greetings,

Earlier today I joined the chain (Cheshire, Manchester South and Stockport) run by 9pN1SEAp and had control of Manchester South.

At one point I had to use the bi-directional working to send a train in the down direction on the Up Wilmslow line between Chelford and Wilmslow because a late-running 2H25 (delayed by the need to use bi-directional working between Goostrey and Chelford) couldn't use the DP platform at Alderley Edge which was occupied by 2H27.

After 2H26 had gone back onto the correct line before running into Wilmslow I put the signalling back to normal working only to find that I could, on the Up Wilmslow and Down Wilmslow lines, set routes in the correct directions - but with the bi-directional arrows above the lines reversed to allow running in the opposite directions (ie. up direction on the down line - with the route set from 4107 to 4109 in the down direction - and down direction on the up line with the route set from 4106 to 4104). I have just tested it again and I can still do it.

Surely such route setting shouldn't be possible IRL with the bi-di controls reversed? Screenshot enclosed albeit not from during the game.

Dave

With no routes set at all across the sim, if I reverse the flow on the Down Wilmslow, so it is set for running in the Up direction I cannot set MS4107 to MS4109.

If I have MS4107 to MS4109 set before I reverse the flow on the Down Wilmslow so it is set for Up direction running, this allows the flow to change.

That behavior is what I expect. Whichever way the flow is set it won't change to the opposite if a route is set from the entrance signal into that section, but it will change if a mid section route is set. So in this example if I have MS4105 to MS4107 set it prevents the flow changing from Down to Up.
