Birmingham New St is due to close Christmas 2022 and control of the middle panel will be passed over to the West Midlands control centre. Birmingham New St PSB was commissioned in 1965 with Westpac Mk1 several changes over the years. The first major signalling alteration was to make platforms 1 to 3 bi-directional with several point ends added either end of the station. The second major alteration was the addition of Birmingham International station with 5 platforms all bi-directional.There has been several more alterations including the remodelling of proof house junction and conversion from Westpac Mk1 to SSI.
