Note though, if there is a route selected over the points (they are highlighted white or red), then there won't be a valid route to set. You will need to key ALL the points from the preceding signal to the following after the failure, and ask the train to examine the line after proceeding from stop. This is especially important if the points are flashing, which means the signalling system can't prove they are in the position you expect them to be. In reality, you'd probably be stuck until a MOM or engineer got to site to clear the failure and would just be stacking, re-routing or cancelling services.
