I've not noticed this before but whilst playing York on ARS, if a passenger train (running late) was routed towards the station, ARS routed it all the way through without waiting for TRTS. This isn't normal behavior for ARS on SimSig is it?

When running to time, ARS waited for TRTS but if it was past the departure time ARS routed all the way through which is obviously frustrating.

2009 TT running with IECC ARS and chained to Doncaster North.

Looks to be a core code issue which was introduced in loader 4.14.6 which dates back to 17/09/2019.

I believe it was an intentional change (to not require TRTS for through trains) in the belief that the real life ARS did not wait for TRTS for through trains. Upon looking at some real world data, it turns out it's dependent on the station - Durham and Broxbourne did not wait for TRTS for through trains, but Newcastle station and Darlington did.

We're going to switch it back to defaulting to wait for TRTS for through trains, though developers do have the option of changing the default. As far as we know, that feature (which is what caused this) has rarely, if ever, been used.

I guess each station in real life is different, Durham for example doesnt have TRTS and with little options there in terms of routing it wouldnt be such an issue for ARS to route straight through.

York, Darlington and Newcastle do have TRTS so would only ever route all the way through if the train wasnt booked to call at all and was straight through, York for example do this for LUMO trains or for the Flying Scotsman (1E01), it got very frustrating on York when ARS was routing through then the trains were calling up delayed and therefore having to cancel routes and wait for the route to timeout.
Hopefully something that can be looked at by developers on a case by case basis as you say Geoff.

Thanks for looking into it anyway.

Arguably this is prototypical, I recall being on an arriving train and seeing the platform staff hitting the TRTS as we were still rolling to a stand

Very true to be fair! I do recall reading that TRTS times were going to be looked at and randomised which i like the idea of. I still dont like ARS setting the whole route before the train has even arrived, blocking other routes!
