Hi,

3-car Sprinter 2A86 looks like it's overrun the starter by occupying 'overlap' TPRDW. PR104 was already off as the train entered the home block.

Is this a bug or just a curious positioning of the IRJ?

might have been me haha, I was just on TSW3 at ST austell
but anyways I guess it is the driver not paying attention

I can confirm that, as it stands, the only real-life stopping position that would result in a train occupying the track circuit that 2A86 is occupying there is that for the up sleeper train. All other trains, including all lengths of IET stop before they pass PR104.

In fact, the current sleeper stopping position is just further east than the old 2+8 HST stopping position, which also used to result in the train occupying that track circuit.

Mantis 38435 to look at the shorter trains.

HSTs did stop where this train has, and a quick look suggests that is where the default stopping position is set in the sim.

but anyways I guess it is the driver not paying attention
I don't think the sim's support driver behavior, the matter being discussed relates to the coding in the sim.

It is down to coding, the default stopping position is set for where HSTs stopped.

The mantis ticket will resolve that, although IETs will still likely stop beyond the signal as the only way to differentiate is by length.

No, as Stephen said it’s only possible by length.

Moreover, you can’t have the stop point for a longer train before the stop point for a shorter train.

Trains up to length X stop at A; trains up to length Y stop at B; etc etc
