One for the team to consider but in times where various versions of the same timetable is uploaded, could older versions be taken down so the latest version of the timetable is always available?

It would be beneficial when issues are reported as users know that the version of the timetable they're using is always the most up to date version.

I am of course referring to the manually uploaded timetables that are user contributed and not the timetables that get updated though the loader.

As some simulations seem to have the same timetable either duplicated so there is no difference between the two or numerous versions of the same timetable but updated at various times.

I have from time to time tried to do that but it's a pretty thankless task as you have to wade through each folder one by one and it's not always possible to be 100% sure if one upload is a replacement for another if there are slight differences in description.

Ideally, the person who uploads should have the ability to delete any files they uploaded and/or when uploading they should be able to indicate that its a replacement and the system should overwrite the earlier version.

I thought I'd raised a ticket on this years ago but I can't immediately find it so I'll do it now.

Appreciate it as for starters Derby and Peterborough have duplicate versions of the same timetables, thank you for raising it as a Mantis report too.

Users can already edit there file submissions to post a new version of the same file which then goes back into the approval queue.

Unfortunately it's not always easy to know what is a newer version especially when differing file names or titles are used.

Part of the issue too is when users submit timetables with version numbers that make no sense eg release V1.1.5 in Oct 24 than release V1.1.3 in Oct 25 and explaining the latter is the most recent version which is at adds with the version numbering.

I've seen timetables which have three versions of the same timetable which make no sense which is where the version numbering needs to be correct, if this data is correct than it ought to be easier to see if a timetable submitted for approval is the most recent version one and prior to approval ensure the last versions of the timetable are removed/archived so the most recent version is always available.

I mean how does the team do it with the various ground hog days ones that are updated via the loader, surely something similar to keep track of the user contributed timetables could be used here?

User-contributed timetables are just that.

As Headshot119 says those users already have the ability to edit their submissions; and we would encourage users submitting timetable updates to use that ability over fresh uploads.

If users aren’t going to use version numbering correctly, there isn’t much the SimSig team can do to help. It also isn’t really our place to retrospectively go through and decide which are the correct latest versions where version numbering hasn’t been used right.

If there are particular timetables you are struggling with in user-contributed I suggest you contact the authors of those timetables and request they let you know which is the right version to be using.

Can you remove the Derby 1992 TUESDAYS if possible? forgot to message an admin. I uploaded the weekdays as a new upload rather than a replacement as its effectively a new timetable.

You can perform a delete by 'editing' the submission and putting 'reject for deletion' in the description.
It goes from the download list immedaitely, and the mod who picks it up knows just to reject it. Safer than trying to describe the file.

But yes a 'delete/withdraw' button would be useful too, less for mods to do
