Platform 12 less than 260m? 11/06/2023 at 22:11 #152133

I've been experimenting with a traditionally daft 37087 timetable.

It involves 2 x 805s joining in Platform 12, which shows on the Wiki as 430m.

The two trains are 130m apiece, so joining together makes only 260m. They occupy the track circuit in rear, preventing you from releasing something from Platform 11 northbound when the joining trains are heading south.

I have tried Platforms 11 and 6, same issue.

A joining glitch where the lengths aren't being accepted as definitely short enough?

Trains that reverse will sometimes stop on the near end of the platform, to leave more quickly on departure, but effectively leaving no space to join with a next arrival from the same origin direction. Have you tried using a stopping position of "Far end" on the first train to arrive?
Or inversely, it might be pulling up all the way to the end, leaving no space for the second train if that arrives from the opposite direction. I believe in theory the latter case is definitely meant to be recognised by the SimSig driver, but it might be too complex in some cases.

Are you able to provide either a save game or TT I can test this with?

By default, a train will stop approximately adjacent to the stairway for bridge. Depending on which way the train is entering, it will stop either 200 or 270 meters into the platform (Depending on direction), unless its longer than this, at which point it will go far end (if I remember correctly)

If you are bringing two trains in from the same direction, you will need to set it as a far end stop. (I believe there is an example of this in the supplied 2015 TT, but I don't recall which train)

For the P12 example, I have had success by using Far End Exact with an offset of -28. This is using 2x 130m trains both entering from the up direction.
