Dock 2 is 207m so how than when a train that is formed of 111m which is already in Dock 2 than has a loco couple to it, the loco decides to stop right on the pointwork by the handpoints that leads to both Dock 2/3.

The joining activity works fine but as the loco has joined the train over the pointwork which can't be right, you can't set a route from signal P163 to the mainline.

Why is the sim carrying out the joining activity over the pointwork? Surely it should be doing this activity in Dock 2 or Dock 3 clear of the pointwork?

Could you present a .ssg, so someone could have a look at what you're experiencing? For example, what TT to start with.

There's a train already in Dock 2 and a loco is meant to couple onto the front (Exeter end of siding) to form a train with the loco on the buffers running into the Down Siding once that train in front has departed.

The train in Dock 2 is only 111m and a loco is only about 20m or so, so as the dock is 207m surely there's enough room for the moves to occur?

Depends on where the original train has stopped.

Yes, the train is seeding at 205m into the TC.
The timetable will need to be adjusted.

Which stopping position do you recommend to have the train seed in Dock 2 please?

I don't profess to be an expert on timetables but near-end or -whatever distance you need.
