Alt underline access keys are a feature in windows applications that allow quick access to menu items from the keyboard. By holding the Alt key and then the letter or number that is underlined on the action you want to select, you can select or perform, that action. In SimSig when the Telephone calls window is selected, Alt+A will answer the highlighted call, Alt+P will open the place call window, Alt+C will select the call waiting list, from where you can use the arrow keys to select the call you want and Alt+L will close the window.

There are several existing Alt underline shortcuts in the trip and timetable editors, but only on some buttons, probably the most commonly used at the time of being implemented.

Given timetable entry can be a bit of tedious task, please can we have additional Alt Underline shortcuts to aid in doing without always needing to reach for the mouse (and help avoid RSIs).

In the Timetable editor please could we have alt underline access keys added for:

Validate (Alt+V)^

Train Details tab
Seed Train (Alt+D)
Decision (Alt+N)^
Choice (Alt+E, Reassign Description to Alt+S)^
Unique ID (Alt+Q)^
Pullman/Special scoring train (Alt+B)
Enter on time (Alt+N)
Increment on transfer (Alt+F)
Shunt Move (Alt+U)
Non-ARS upon entry (Alt+R)

Train Characteristics tab
Speed classes (Alt+E, reassign Weight to Alt+H)

Location List tab
Add above (Alt+A)
Move up (Alt+U)
Move down (Alt+W)
Edit (Alt+E)^
Delete (Del)
Adjust times(Alt+J)

Misc Tab (Alt+I)^

In the Trip editor please could we have alt underline access keys added for:

Stopping position (Alt+G)
Adjustment (Alt+J)
Request stop (Alt+R)^
Dwell time (Alt+W)
New category (Alt+Y)^
Set down (Alt+T)^
Thru line (Alt+U)
Berths here (Alt+B)
Add (Alt+Num+, add a + to the button to facilitate?)
Edit (Alt+I)
Delete (Del)
Move up (Alt+P)
Move down (Alt+N)
OK (Alt+O)^
Cancel (Alt+C)

I haver marked the functions above with a caret for those that would be the most appreciated by myself.

The tab sequence is also slightly curious, I suspect it is the sequence that buttons and boxes were added to the various windows. This could also do with being reviewed.

The train now standing on platform 2, should be on the rails

The tools that Geoff and I use to write the core code are a bit funny about tab order, not making any attempt to keep it organized. Yes, we need to go through all the panes and fix them. This won't be trivial, so don't hold your breath.
