Currently testing a new timetable based on 30/03/2024 using the 2015 map, and the first train to return from Okehampton arrives at Crediton 20 minutes later than booked, also seems to only travel at 30mph from Okehampton. I can say that, according to the re-opening of the branch in 2017 and the most recent Sectional Appendix, the linespeed has increased from 30mph to 70mph in certain sections between Crediton and Okehampton. I'm assuming due to limitations of the simulator, and the fixed speed limits of the 2015 map, there is no chance i am able to run these services without re-timing them or somehow magically updating the speed limits to the modern day? Do i bother trying to re time them or just abandon the Okehampton branches 15 up and down services?

The upgrades (including to linespeeds) was way after 2015 I'm afraid.

When I rebuilt Exeter sim I only had (and still only have) the data for Exeter and Exmouth boxes so the Barnstaple branch etc. still needs to be done.

There are some ideas on bodging the Okehampton timings here:

I tried turning Yeoford, but that does not work, the train keeps going to Okehampton and falls off. Due to Yeoford understandably not being a key location where activities work.

Maybe reverse CR11 to keep the trains running through Exeter ?

I'm guessing "The Data" is more than just speed limits and how long it takes, hence why there has been no update since the 2015 map? I've no clue what rebuilding sims entails but i'd hazard a guess that it's more sophisticated than track speeds, gradients, data from NR etc... which is fair enough as to why no update.

A lot more information is required than is generally realised.

It’s worth remembering that each era is a “snapshot in time” and will generally be correct for the date it is stated.

Minor modifications occur on the network all the time, such as speed changes, move a signal ten yards one way or another, remodel a junction etc. and if a change occurs after a sim is released then there is no guarantee it will ever become a new era. Even a relatively minor real world change can mean a lot of work to a sim.

In my opinion, there's not much point trying to faf around with reversals at Crediton, it's only 2 trains in each direction at a time so i think i'll pull them from my timetable as they are their own individual circuts with the same two trains all day.
