Having just completed another run of Pascal's 1992 timetable, I decided to start a new game with a few adjustments to the failure settings as well as potentially causing chaos by closing the fast lines between Springs Branch Junction and Goldbourne Junction. This should be fun if I can stand the stress! ..... Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

Yes, so far it has been. I shall have to restart with one of the other, more difficult settings. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

OK. I have restarted this game and selected the random 2 scenarios setting. These are the fast between Springs Branch Junction and the Main lines between Warrington Bank Quay and Acton Grange Junction closed. Also the failures setting are as per the screenshot. Do you think that this is a bit over the top? ..... Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Everything that you make will be useful - providing it's made of chocolate. Log in to reply |

I started a similar scenario and got the lines between Winwick and Golborne closed and the mains between Warrington and Acton Grange. Whilst the diversions via Newton le Willows are OK, I had to remove the T3 around Warrington as so many shunts and crew changes made the TT nearly unplayable with delays, especially as so many of the trip workings have rules so they struggle to pull the time back once late

Having said that, isn't it's the case that you can adjust these settings at any time anyway? I think that I'll see how I get on with the current settings to start with. I must have written a boring TT for once as you feel its necessary to run it with a scenario. Most users tend to tell me that it's hard enough to keep everything running to time without any faults & failures on in my TTs without making the job almost impossible running it with scenarios. Still I guess there's always one to slip through the net.

I just thought that after running it 3 times already and really enjoying it so much, that it would be interesting to see what happens with different settings. I've run through it now with low failures and a realistic level of delays and been ok. I don't personally think its on par with the night shift at Carlisle though. that first 6 hours is still probably the best part of any SimSig timetable written. The only thing I'd say is that BR era TTs are more complex covering the the 1980s than the 1990s. For me personally I prefer the 1980s over owt else.I must have written a boring TT for once as you feel its necessary to run it with a scenario. The next 1980s era TT that'll be released should be Crewe summer 1988 which I'm updating now & finishing prior to testing can start, but that's a couple of months away yet as it's a big & complex TT to write & run. Both the Doncaster station summer 1991 & Crewe summer 1988 may end up too much for 1 user to play on their own & would be best run as a multiplayer only due to the complexities of the TT & the sim. Both are different animals of Warrington 1992 & of each other. In time I will write a set of Doncs 1987 TTs, but won't be starting work on those for another year at least, too many other projects in front of that in the queue. Log in to reply |
