Hi, now that Motherwell has been upgraded at Cove level crossing and it can have routes set in auto across the crossing. This would be protypical to the operation of Cooks aswell. Could this be done?

The solution Peter adopted in Motherwell is bespoke and not supported as part of the core code. The testing involved would be disproportionate to expand to other areas.

Why would it be disproportionate if it prototypical or realistic?

It's not in the Core code so far because the use case would be relatively small and what is already existing gets the job done.

Disproportionate is specifically referring to expanding this into other areas. Extensive testing would be required on any level crossing that was modified from core code usual behaviour. The benefit that this would actually bring is relatively small when compared against the work involved. There are areas in Simsig where compromises have to be made, usually in cases that have no major impact on playability or user experience.

It is a Core Code request though.

The development actually originated on another Sim which has somewhere near 30 such crossings and Cove was a testbed for that work.
It'd been a useful exercise as all the testing has allowed me to fine-tune the logic.
It's easy to replicate for each crossing now I have the template.
