I've just started the latest Exeter sim, using the fixed version of the supplied Summer 2006 timetable.

I've noticed that train 2C80S, a Bristol-Exeter DMU, near the start of the timetable enters at Fairwater Yard, and has to be run along the goods line, costing points.

My question is this: Is this by bug or by design? If its the latter, I'm curious, how come the train emerges the yard, rather than at the Bristol fringe?

One of the limitations of the sim is it cannot start already populated with trains - they have to be introduced at entry points. 2C80 should be in the vicinity of Norton Fitzwarren at midnight, the time the timetable starts. Unfortunately there are only so many entry points on the sim layout so the closest one to where the train would be at the start is used. Sometimes this is a goods yard or siding and you do get penalized but the penalty isn't large.
