Made a tentative start on transcribing the CSCOT manual to WIKI- please bear with me as it's a learning process for me and it;'s gone wrong already! If anyone has a spare few minutes and want to copy a page across then please do we can worry about the formatting later.

By my guest; I finally worked out what I'd done wrong over lunch and it's not that difficult in the end. But any assistance appreciated.

Andy/Chris- looking good- one question. On overview I have a list of the boxes and was going to create separate pages for each. But I see that they are all on the one 'Box details' page and that actually looks fine- so the question is can the lines on 'overview' be linked to bookmarks in the box detail page -if so that's the best plan?

Thanks

Peter

There appears to be a small contents page at the top that you can click on that contains all the headings.....Will that be enough Peter....Maybe I should include a back to top button for each section

Feel free to incorporate 'Absolute Beginners' in any way necessary, and also to suggest :
Adding to the commentary
Exit slot Greenloaning ?

Other features that need to be in there
Joins ?

Any others that could benefit from the same treatment in ''Next Steps', unless that is adequately covered elsewhere:
T buttons
Yellow triangles
White triangles

Bill,

Joins and triangles are a general SimSig issues and not necessarily specific to CScot. Those features are available to all sims though depending on the sim, they may not actually make use of them.. It's probably best covered once in the main Wiki for all sims. However, having said that, if you are referring to a specific instance in the CScot sim itself that requires clarification then can you give either myself or Peter the specifics and we can discuss it and make the necessary changes and additions.

The exit slot is specific so I'll discuss that with Peter.

Thanks

Chris

P.S. Don't forget the Wiki is open for all members to edit Bill so if you feel something is missing then you go right ahead and add it yourself!!!

Myself, lardy and Andy are working through formatting the current manual it's not my intention to then maintain it save where I have something I wish to add. Though guidance can be given.

Where possible we need to mention things once and then link otherwise we have more than one page to maintain.

I also think we don't want to mix up sim operation with timetable specific info- what I suggest is that on the relevant home page we create a link to a timetables section where any timetable specific stuff can go e.g. how to work the sleepers- which is now off topic for CSCOT thread.....

peter, Chris,

What I was trying to do with 'Absolute beginners' is to use CSCOT as a vehicle for how to use SimSig. This was on the basis of a number of new users coming in due to the Scottish setting, so they might as well learn SimSig on the sim they are going to be using. It is not intended as an introduction to the CSCOT sim itself.

If the format looks promising then I can extend it to other SimSig functionality as long as they are in the sim. That's a problem with learning on Royston, it doesn't do everything.

regards
Bill
