For a few months in 1998, I lived in Inverkeithing, in a street called Glebe Park, which is sandwiched between the main line and the Rosyth Dockyard branch - actually, the part of the Dockyard branch which was the original North-Queensferry-Dunfermline line. One thing I particularly remember about it was that: the Dockyard branch by where I lived appeared to be double track.

It wasn't really double track; it was a loop, or a loop siding, with a ground frame at each end. Indeed, the ground frame at the south end - located at the site of the junction of the Rosyth Dockyard and North Queensferry Pier lines - was visible from Jamestown Viaduct on the main line. Has it gone now? I realise its omission doesn't really make much difference to the sim, as it hardly ever gets trains; but, still, I wondered if anything had happened to it. I've got a feeling it was connected with the access to the rail-served scrapyard by Inverkeithing harbour.

(there's also a treadle-operated MWL crossing on the Dockyard branch, for Inverkeithing station car park footpath, but I don't know if those sorts of crossing tend to get put in the sims or not)

There is a loop (or was- don't know the current state) And at the time I did that bit of the Sim the idea of GFs had not really captured my imagination; so it is an omision but as you say it's not really material and I'm ulikely to add it in future. I don't think the crossing is on the panel but the photo's are on my other computer.

Thanks

Peter

I used to know someone who worked at HMS Caley - I think she'd worked at HMS Cochrane before that, too.

Incidentally, another Inverkeithing area issue: if you want to be pedantic about banner repeaters, I think there's one missing. There always used to be a split-head banner repeater midway along the up platform at Inverkeithing, because the signal was slightly obscured by the station footbridge. I don't know if it's still there given that a new footbridge was built closer to the station building. On a non-signalling note, Inverkeithing is about the only station I can think of whose platforms end in steps, not ramps (at the south end, at least).

The split-head banner repeater is still there, or was until I last checked (yesterday!)
