Now that we have lever frames available, I wonder if a simulation of the old (1928) Borough Market Junction might be a possibility. Some information is here: http://www.wbsframe.mste.co.uk/public/Borough_Market_Junction.html particularly the diagrams and resignalling notices via links at the bottom of the page. I suspect this wouldn't be quite enough, particularly given the non-standard overlaps (the overlap at 2/10 signals was just 15 yards, for example). But I imagine more is available.

Advantages: it would be a good proof of concept, if such were needed, for a layout worked entirely from a lever frame without any routeseting at all, but all the working was track circuit block so no need to wrestle with absolute block working. The Southern Railway frames didn't make use of checklocks on points levers; the lever could be moved the whole of its travel without waiting for the points to complete their movement (and as soon as it was, following signal levers were immediately released, with clearance determined by the detection circuits). It is very small - just 35 levers. But even so it was extremely busy - it needed 2 men to work it and I understand the "booking boy" had to be a signalman as well, during the peak it just wasn't possible for one man to keep the job going for even the shortest of loo breaks. That should be enough work for the most hardened SimSigger I should have thought!

Please note that these are very limited lever frames, intended for the little ground frames that still exist in power-signalled areas. All the normal SimSig logic is disabled when they're in use - for example, it's possible to move points controlled by a ground frame underneath a train. The intention was never to do a proper lever frame simulation - that would be a completely different project.

Ok thanks Clive. Nice thought while it lasted, I was just about 3 years too late to get a look at Borough Market & the other boxes down that way.
