Sorting Sidings North

To quote Madness, welcome to the house of fun.

In reality, much of the Sorting Sidings North layout is not track circuited. Track circuits have been added for convenience, playability and to replicate what can be seen from the box window.

Trains which are booked locations beyond Basford Hall Yard may be routed, without penalty, via Basford Hall Up Arrival Lines No.1 & No.2, the Up Loop and Up Through Siding. Trains reappear at Basford Hall Junction on the equivalent departure line.

A through acceptance has been provided for trains heading towards Crewe PSB Signal CE543 and Gresty Lane GL9 via their respective siding connections. When granted, this locks the off sim points along this line Normal. Note that trains may state points set against train if a train is leaving the sim in the opposite direction.

Routes from Signals NH32, NH33 and NH50 require the tracks ahead occupied, and can only be used for joining trains.

Routes from Signals NH21, NH22 and NH43 towards to Up Fast or Slow independent lines requires the berth track occupied for Signals NH10 or NH12, or the acceptance slot from Salop Goods Junction to route towards Signal GL47 or GL48 (1985 era only).

Except in the 2016-2023 era, the Down Goods to Gresty Lane is bi-directional for shunting purposes; a slot can be requested to and granted from Gresty Lane. Wrong-direction slots can only be granted when the relevant line's block indicator is at Normal.

A phone call is required to send trains into the Coal Sidings from NH43.

There are no non described TD steps in the Sorting Sidings North area to replicate the lack of train describer in the area.
