Dinton East & West GFs

Dinton GFs give access to sets of MOD sidings on both sides of the line. Dinton East GF (313) gives access to RAF Chilmark and Dinton MOD (Navy) - referred to as Dinton MOD in timetables, and Dinton West GF (314) giving access to Dinton MOD (Air) - referred to as Dinton MOD (Air) in timetables..

As they are in the middle of a Tokenless block section there is an Annett Key to release the frame. Once the release has been given, the lever frame is unlocked by means of the Annett key obtained from a key release instrument at the location. When operations are complete and all levers restored, the frame is relocked by the key which then allows the release to be given up. A train "shut in" facility is also provided. The signalling process is the same for both GFs.

To signal a train into the sidings (the train will be shut in)

- When the train has arrived at the GF the "GF FREE TO REL" indicator will illuminate on the panel

- Release the appropriate GF

- Click the "Annetts Key" box on the lever frame panel to take control of the GF

- Pull lever 2 to operate the Facing Point Lock, and then lever 3 to move the points.

- Once the points are set click the "Up Hand Signal" box to authorise the train to move into the sidings

- When the train is clear of the points a message will be displayed and an alarm will sound (Sim Specific #1).

- Cancel the handsignal and restore levers 3 and 2.

- Restore the Annetts Key by cancelling its checkbox

- Press the "Train Clear of Line" plunger

- Restore the GF release on the panel

If the buttons are operated out of sequence the GF will lock and it may not be possible to release it again. The tokenless block instrument may also be locked at Train in Section. Running a train through the section (having instructed the Driver to pass the relevant signal at Danger) should release the block instruments.

To signal a train out of the sidings

A train can only be allowed to leave the sidings when the section is clear, and the tokenless block instrument shows Normal

- Place the tokenless block instrument at both ends of the section to Accept

- Release the appropriate GF

- Click the "Annetts key" box on the lever frame panel to take control of the GF

- Pull lever 2 to operate the Facing Point Lock, and then lever 3 to move the points.

- Once the points are set click the "Dn Hand Signal" box to authorise the train to leave the siding.

- When the train is clear of the points a message will be displayed and an alarm will sound (Sim Specific #1).

- Cancel the handsignal and restore levers 3 and 2.

- Restore the Annetts Key by cancelling its checkbox

- Restore the GF release on the panel

When the train is on the running line with the GFs closed the Driver will call for authorisation to move.

Dean Hill GF

Dean Hill GF controls access to a network of sidings at the nearby MOD complex.

To signal a train into Dean Hill MOD:

- Set the ERS on SY5 so that the train stops there

- Once the train has passed SY1 set the ERS on that signal

- When the train has stopped at SY5 release the ground frame (301)

- When the GF has been released cancel the ERS on SY5

- Take control of the GF by pulling lever 1, and then pull lever 4 to call the train past SY5

- When the train has stopped behind GPL 3012 replace lever 4 and set the ERS on SY5

- Pull lever 3 to set the points into the siding, and then lever 2 to signal the train in

- When the train is inside the siding replace lever 2, then lever 3, and finally lever 1 to close the GF

- Restore the GF release on the panel, and cancel the ERS on SY1 and SY5

To signal a train from Dean Hill MOD

A train can only be allowed to leave Dean Hill if the line is clear between SY1 and SY7, or if an approaching train has been stopped at SY5 and the line is clear between SY5 and SY7.

- Set the ERS on SY1 and SY5

- Release the ground frame (301)

- Take control of the GF by pulling lever 1

- Set the points for the train to leave by pulling lever 3

- Pull lever 6 to signal the train out of the siding

- When the train is clear of the points restore levers 6,3 and 1

- Restore the GF release on the panel

- Cancel the ERS on SY1 and SY5
