Eras

Victoria Central comes with four distinct periods of operation.

1990

Mitcham Junction is a junction with branches to West Croydon, Sutton, Wimbledon, and Streatham. Though mostly single track from Wimbledon to West Croydon, there was still a regular service in operation on what was affectionately known as the Winkle Line. See Wikipedia for more details.

A couple of sidings exist, one at Streatham, the other at Kensington Olympia.

Imperial Wharf, West Brompton, Shepherds Bush, and Mitcham Eastfields stations had yet to be built.

2000

The Winkle line has sadly closed and is being transformed into a tram system. Consequently, Wimbledon has just one through platform and one short bay platform, in order to accommodate the tram service at the other end of the platform.

Mitcham Junction still retains its name but is no longer a junction by nature. However, due to curvature at both ends of the station, through trains still have to slow down.

Mitcham Eastfields, West Brompton, Imperial Wharf, and Shepherds Bush stations are now open, and the sidings at Streatham and Kensington Olympia have gone.

2010

The East London Line has been built and one arm extends as far as Crystal Palace (from Sydenham). As a result, two new bay platforms have been built at Crystal Palace and some of the remaining platforms renumbered.

2014

The Atlantic lines at Battersea Park have been severed from the Brighton Slow, with Platform 1 being closed and Platform 2 remaining but only used to turn round trains in times of disruption, and for occasional trains for route knowledge retention purposes.

The Latchmere curve has been doubled.

VC739 has gained a replacement button
