IP Address

An IP address (Internet Protocol address) is a unique address that devices use in order to identify and communicate with each other on a computer network, the most common of which is the internet.

Any participating network device - including routers, computers, time-servers, printers, Internet fax machines.

In the Networking page of SimSig, one or more IP address will be listed. These addresses are usually local to your home/office network and not visible on the Internet. However, if you are hosting on a local network, for example between a desktop and laptop in your house, then this address is the one you should use.

Sites such as www.whatismyipaddress.com can report your Internet IP address. You can also use www.simsig.co.uk/Manage/WhatsMyIP for the same purpose.
