Banbury Chaining - possible issue 20/08/2017 at 23:52 #101146

Evening all,

I was just having a look at the Leamington Spa sim in preparation for the Midlands chain tomorrow and I just noticed one thing.

The last signal shown on the Banbury line in the 2006 era is still numbered as BN51 and, in a similar vein, the signal on the line below is BN47. However since the abolition of Banbury North SB those signals are now OL3151 and OL3150 respectively. Is there any chance that an update could be made at some point (a 2016 era?) with those numbers changed in the newer era so that chaining to Marylebone would continue to be possible?

Dave

It's not just a simple case of changing the signal numbers I'm afraid. There's a lot more work to go into an updated era.

There's a vague plan to do the update but it's a long way down my list unfortunately.

Ok thanks Karl. I hadn't realised that it was more than changing the numbers. I didn't know what else altered around the Leamington Spa area when Leamington SCC and the Banbury boxes closed.

The signals involved in chaining have a "behind the scenes" ID that the two sims share, so as long as they continue to match then the sims should continue to chain regardless of the public facing ID.
