Could somebody tell me the correct way to operate the ground frame at Treherbert so that trains being stabled at Treherbert return the token before they exit the simulation.

The way that I have been doing is:
1. Change train describer at Treherbert platform
2. Release ground frame from workstation
3. Insert token into token lock
4. Reverse the points
5. Handsignal to sidings
6. Once train describer has stepped over to the sidings cancel handsignal
7. Normalise points
8. Remove token from token lock
9. Lock ground frame from workstation

The train then leaves the sim without returning the token.

Just a note to say...

I've seen this, but I'm moving house today, tomorrow, and most of Sunday and don't have a computer to hand to check, though one of my testers will probably have a look.

There's no special method, the train just calls up to hand back the token. That being said you're the first to report a problem, and it certainly worked last time we played.

I have tried this and am unable to find any bug.

Even when I was deliberately slow to replace the frame and the train had left the sim, I still got a call to say the token was replaced once I had normalised the frame.

I followed the sequence you posted precisely, so do not know why it didn't work for you.

Could you perhaps attach a save game of when this is occurring and I may be able to assist further?

I have attached the state of play just before 2T32/5T32 is due to depart Treherbert for the sidings. I should also add that trains stabling at Rhymney Sidings return the token with no problems.

1. HC change (does not matter if you change it in the platform or before)
2. Open frame/place token/change points.
3. HS to sidings
4. Once train stops in sidings, all levers back / token removed / return frame.

Driver phones, returns token.

I found no issue!

Out of interest - what sim version are you running? Your save file is for 4.7 whilst the up-to-date sim version is 4.8.2.

I have downloaded your save game and tried it.

When I started it up, I got a version mismatch. You appear to be running Loader v4.7, whereas the latest available is v4.8.2.

When I tried 5T32 it worked correctly. I suggest you "Check for Updates" on the first screen when you start SimSig, and then run the game from scratch. This should solve your problem.

OK. I'll try running that timetable again from scratch under the latest loader version and see if that fixes it.

That doesn't seem to have fixed it. I'm still getting 5T32 disappearing from the train list before returning the token.

What version of the simulation are you running?

I've just started a fresh copy of the 04:30 start for the 03/09/2016 timetable and 2T32/5T32 happily hand the token back once the frame is locked up again.

Just a thought, you mentioned the train disappears from the train lost before returning the token, but even if that happens there is code there to ensure that once the F of the frame is right clicked on the screen a phone call will still occur.

Have you tried this?

I'm using Simsig Loader 4.8.2 and data version 1.0 build 9

Right clicking on the F just gives me a menu with some options, but no phone call

You should be right-clicking the button next to the 'F' to lock the frame, not the 'F' itself.

Locking the frame before 5T32 exits the sim after entering the sidings does not result in a phone call. Locking it after 5T32 exits the sim also does not result in a phone call.

Again, we can't reproduce this, I've tried multiple times and on all occasions trains return the token once the ground frame is locked.

Given that other people using identical versions to me aren't having the same problem I think the cause could only be one of two things:

1. I am operating the ground frame incorrectly, which is unlikely given that I am not having problems with trains entering at Treherbert, or trains entering and leaving at Rhymney sidings.

or

2. Something to do with me running the sim on Wine rather than native Windows. I switched over to Linux 6 years ago and all the sims so far have run for me with no issues.

I think I will work around the issue until I can borrow a Windows PC to see if the cause is Wine. This won't be for some time. In the meantime thanks for your help.

I run SimSig under Wine all the time, and haven’t had any trouble with ground frames or tokens. That having been said, I don’t own Cardiff Valleys so I can’t really tell whether it might be a very special case which does break. Unless you can tell me exactly which TT to pick and what start time to run from, so I can get a train which tests this problem within the demo period?

I've run the simulation on Wine, in several environments and I can't reproduce the issue. I suspect something simple is a miss like the ground frame not being locked on the screen.

Maybe the OP could save the game after every move he makes following the arrival of the train at Treherbert and post the saves along with a note at each stage of what move was made.

I've just played through a game from scratch. I must have been doing something incorrectly while stabling the train. Trains are stabling and returning the token correctly now.
