I have 3Q28 2208 Neville Hill - Derby RTC test train passing Bolton-on-Dearne at a speed of 90mph. While there are infrastructure monitoring trains that do transit and record at this speed, looking at the point-to-point timings and comparing them with the mileages of the timing points they equate approximately to 30mph timings, therefore I believe that this train is an ultrasonic test unit (UTU) on a recording run, which are restricted to 30mph when testing, subject to any lower permissible linespeeds. UTU's in transit are limited to 75mph max, also subject to any lower permissible linespeeds. The train formation also points to it being a UTU as at that time they were generally (and sometimes still are) formed as follows:- loco+make-up vehicle/generator vehicle+test coach+DBSO.

Regards,

Phil.

You have the route set from WH50 as a result you will be unable to route up to it, you need to cancel the route from WH50 the you can route 2P51

I notice trains are booked 3 minutes from departing Conisbrough to arriving at Mexborough, but in today's timetable they are booked 5 minutes.

That's how they were timed in 2015. I can't find 5 minutes in today's timetable but 4 minutes seems common.

6E78 doesn't go to Barrow Hill Rec. (Nor 6E87, 6E87, or any other variation I can think of).

If you set the route from 235 to 1007 then to 1013 the train will accept the route into Rec 1

Have queried about route 235 to 1013 direct Mantis 0024411

not a bug, just a query.

why do some trains seed at Sheffield and then other seeds enter via the H.S. and shunt to their respective platforms rather than seeding and splitting?

Those aren't seeds. Looking at Real Time Trains, there are no scheduled services to the Holding Sidings, meaning that all of those moves will be done under local instruction. While unusual, I don't see anything particularly wrong with using non-standard descriptions for those moves (and they may reflect real-life practice at Sheffield). Those that enter with a 'proper' description are ECS moves that go further than a shunt into Sheffield station.

Joe It could have been a lot worse - I spent 4/5 weeks on nights watching the comings and goings of the unbooked shunt moves around the station. It got to the stage where I could even tell when the meal relief was on :)

I've kept inbounds into platforms 6/8 as class 5 as opposed to using the normal method of FUEL / WASH after all you would finish up with 3 FUELs and 2 WASHs plus splits of 4 car sets stacked up off platform 8 alone.

0Sxx with the platform (3P 4P 2C 1A 1B etc) is used for moves off the HS the majority of the time, depending on who was working you could get PLT3 PLT4 etc instead. Then there are SNDS (Shunt DSS Northend) S2NE/S2SE which are Shunt P2 North/South ends) SU2N and so on.

Hope this clears it up a little

I have 6D94 in the Canklow UGL, awaiting departure for Masborough Junct and beyond. Nothing else even remotely in the vicinity.
Totally unprompted, signal 405 clears to green, necessitating pulling the route before clearing the siding exit dummy to permit 6D94 to proceed.
Not right, surely?

Needs line code of UGL for Masborough SS Junction. I'll ask John (MELD) to put it in, though it's an easy change you can make yourself.

SDSS Sheffield Holding Sidings to Sheffield via Shunt 142 to DDS, flags up SDSS has been sent onto a good line when arriving onto DSS [-50 points] in performance. This train detaches to 2 trains and a next working DSS 5L01/3L05/5Y70.
I followed the timetable correctly.

Never really noticed the scoring side of this service so to save those 50 points edit the headcode from SDSS to 5DSS - looks identical but should alleviate the points drop - have altered TT to reflect this

Alternatively, if you wanted to keep the headcode the same, it should be possible to either specifically designate that particular timetable as being allowed to run on Goods lines, or else provide some timetable-specific Class of Service-rules, to force that special kind of headcode to be classified as ECS.
Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.
