Hi - sorry for dumb question but where is the current routing into Knottingley WRD? I've got a freight going there from Knottingley West Junction for a crew change. I know that from previous experience whatever I've tried seemed to result in the train going off-sim and I want to get it right this time.

Thanks!

From what I've found for the location 'Knottingley WRD', the sim code routes anything TT'd for the WRD in the Down direction off sim. Normally I alter the train tt to Knottingley Station for crew changes.

I'm also surprised cc's are tt'd to take place in the WRD in that 2009 timetable.

It's up to DBS where they change crews. They do own the depot.

When EWS was split into the Business Units, Knottingley fell under the EWS Energy Banner. We was given a lot of freedom to develop new ideas and a collegue of mine developed the idea of "in flight fueling". This saw trains use the WRD to fuel and also have a crew change whilst the fueling was going on and any minor repairs or having oil water and sand topped up. This also saved on locomotive swaps on certain diagrams meaning that the loco would be coupled to the same set of wagons all week. This did work very very well but with the coal market going the old method of swapping locomotives out sufficed.
So your 2009 TT is correct most of the crew changes did go through Knottingley via WRD and quick refuelling. We tended to fill the locos up as they was heading into Drax or Eggborough it seemed to work better and it also meant that Knottingley East Junction would not get locked up.

Hope this helps
