I have two trains in the simulation right now, both with the headcode 5T01.

These trains have differing UIDs, so I put the UID in the sticky note, however (as shown in the image below) even if I click 5T01K1 it opens the timetable for 5T01I. Not very helpful. If we could have the correct timetable open when the UID is clicked, that would be extremely useful.

Sticky notes have never handled UIDs, they only handle a trains ID. If the TD does not match any in the TT, then it will try to open the closest that it can. In your case, I'm guessing that the 2 trains have 5T01 as their ID with their ID also being used as their UID but suffixed to make them different. The sim treats anything beyond 5T01 as a suffix and so if it can't match directly it cuts it off. Where there are 2 IDs the same, it will match it to any that are currently active and if there aren't, it will match to the earliest timed train it can find.

If you open a TT that has UIDs in the form of letter and 5 numbers (any 15 or 19 TT released with sims), you'll see when you type a UID into a sticky note, it does not form a hyperlink that is clickable but remains as normal text

Not even that - I've sometimes observed it to pick a later instance of that ID that isn't due to enter for another few hours, even though an earlier train with the same ID is due to enter shortly.
Ideally it should use the earliest timed train that hasn't yet entered.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

So in a simulation where both trains are active at the same time, there's no way of being able to open the correct timetable for each train using the sticky notes?

Can support for UIDs be added? It's a no-brainer to me...

You should also remember that clicking on the TD in a berth may produce the same effect.

Another possibility: provide some way of getting to the correct UID's TT from a wrong one with the same headcode. At minimum, it should be reasonable to make the "next working" and "divide into" activities into links to their respective TTs.
