When duplicating a schedule and offsetting the time by some amount (in the in-game editor), the times in the misc section ("Origin departure" and "Destination arrival" ) do not get affected by this and require manual adjustment thereafter. I don't know if this has already been requested, but it would be a simple timesaving fix...

Can I also add to this with regarding copying train types for use into another timetable via the Tools button.

When train types are copied to be used in another timetable (type name, length, speed etc etc), it would be good if the dwell times in the second tab could be copied over too, as presently they don't and are all shown as 00:00:00 when the copied train types are shown in the new timetable.

This would save quite a lot of time when compiling a new timetable with similar or same train types as has been used in a previous one.

Also being able to copy train types from one sim to a different one that chains with each other would be an advantage (eg Rugby North to Rugby Centre/South) as they are liable to have similar train types , but I don't know if this would be able to be done, as you can't presently but I'm sure someone could advise one way or another.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Phil....

Hi Phil,

Yes it would be nice if the train types could be exported from a timetable using the editor.

At the moment to do this I unzip a WTT with them in, extract the section between <TrainCategories> and </TrainCategories>, and insert that into the XML of the new (empty) WTT before zipping it back up. Not ideal but gets the job done.

Mantis 32563. You should be able to delete all the schedules and rules, leaving the train categories, save that as a separate TT, then merge that in to your new TT.

9p's XML method is also valid.

Thanks Geoff, I'll give that a try

Merging in categories with the same ID and description (but with different dwell times for instance) into an existing TT doesn't overwrite the existing categories, but creates a second copy. Which is a shame as I'll now have to find a method to de-dup from two XMLs.

Even though the ID and description are identical, the actual full category isn't. I think the remove duplicates only reads the ID, so you could end up with a lot of unassigned schedules, (maybe Geoff could confirm)

I know different TOCS have different dwell times for various activities, in which case you need to duplicate the stock type and add a TOC ID into the description

Examples

Taking a class 150 4 car set that divides to a pair of 2 cars, lets say GWR allow 4 minutes and Northern allow 2 mins

Stock types would be GW 150 (4 car) & NT 150 (4 car) or something similar.

Class 319s on the other hand have differences in power classification.

Generic 319s are AC/DC powered, Northerns have the shoe gear removed so are just AC, again you would need to duplicate, so you could have Class 319 (4 car) & NT Class 319 (4 car)

At least for the more major differences (length, speed, freight lines, power type) train types with the same description do not merge, so no left overs without a type. You get left with two/more with the same description.

Once those differences are aligned then types will merge, but I did not however check to see if the 8 digit HEX category ID's ( eg <TrainCategory ID="361D15A5"> ) had been the same or not.

I'd merged two TrainCategories where the @ID's were identical, and ended up with two of every TrainCategory...!

If you use the Merge Identical button, you still finish up with duplicate stock types showing, means only one thing, Your stock types aren't identical

Could you fudge it by editing the two types until they do show the same detail then merging again?
