Hi all,

Is it possible for ARS to route a train from Newcastle Slow Line to High Level Bridge Junction, then reverse into Provincial Siding - without any manual input during the sim? I've tried changing the Line and Path options in the timetable and the closest routing SimSig will validate is shown below.

(based on train 0N06 from 'Tyneside 15-10-09 (0000 start)' entering at Seaham and running via Gateshead to enter Newcastle from the west)
KEB North Jn --:-- 14/13
Newcastle --:-- 14/17 XML SL ML
High Level Bridge Jn 14:19 14:23 ML ML
Provincial Siding (T6037 14:25 14:25

With the above routing the train stops on High Level Bridge up line and does not change direction (remains Up, needs to become Down), then ARS sets a route on the down line starting from the opposite side of High Level Bridge Junction (Signal 107 to Signal 522).

I've no idea whether this would be a valid move in real life but is it possible in SimSig regardless? If not valid in real life, does anyone know what would be done instead?

Thanks, Iain.

Hi Ian

I found it problematic when trying to get a train to follow that route, so I changed it slightly as follows:
Newcastle XML SL ML
Newcastle T6038
Provincial siding (T6037)

That seems to work

Thanks Si, appreciate the tip. It almost does the job for me - instead ARS now leaves a gap from signal 515 to 535 (the Slow line section parallel to Provincial Siding) and I have to manually set that part. At least the train reverses direction before I set the manual route from T6038 to the siding.

It's an improvement 😊
