Away back in the good old days a meet was set up to take place in July 2020 in Edinburgh (details here). Unfortunately this had to be cancelled due to the Covid lockdowns. While I have not been involved in the organisation of other meets since then I do feel a sense of unfinished business as far as Edinburgh is concerned. Although the team that normally organises our meets has too much on its plate at the moment, Geoff has kindly allowed me to organise an unofficial meet under the SimSig banner so I am off to Edinburgh next week to try and sort things out with The Beehive (the venue for the original cancelled meet). The proposal is that there should be an unofficial meet at The Beehive, Grassmarket, Edinburgh on the afternoon of Saturday 9th. March running from 12:00 noon until 6:00pm or so. Further details will follow and Geoff is going to put up a sign-up sheet for the meet once the details are confirmed. Hopefully the format will be as traditional, multiplay for those who wish to take part and a bit of socialising, eating and drinking for those who are there to meet old acquaintances and make new friends. As the normal team will not be available to set up the network and hosting of multiplay sims volunteers will be needed to act as the hosts for whichever multiplay sims are in use. The meeting is not an official SimSig event (athough it is sanctioned by SimSig) so we will probably not be able to grant temporary licences for paid-for sims; we will either have to multiplay on freeware sims or on payware sims licenced and locked to each computer for each panel of the sim. As much as I'd love to attend I go on holiday on the 8th - 15th.

After numerous phone calls and a visit to the venue followed by further e-mail correspondence the venue have now finally let me know that they will be unable to accommodate us on Saturday 9th. March due to the number of bookings they already have for people to watch the Italy v Scotland 6 Nations Rugby on the TV. It is a pity they couldn't have told me that when I made the first approach before I opened this topic.
