How about a sim based on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, would be easy to do as they use colour signals and could chain to Exeter

It would be quite boring, there really wouldn't be many train movements.

You could always just add it into the main Exeter sim? Would be nice to simulate the ground frames.

Hear hear. If the Western sims are in development, then this could be an add on. Another suggestion would be to do it like the Alloa Line on Central Scotland. This would be easier for timetabling.

I've nothing against the P&DSR, but I agree it might be a bit boring. Although I'd be more than happy for it to be an optional extra on the Exeter sim like the Alloa Line, as mentioned above.

There are other preserved railways that might be more interesting to do, as they will be much busier. I have before suggested the NYMR, perhaps with the Esk Valley branch added on as well. The East Lancs, West Somerset or Severn Valley might be interesting too? And surely Preserved railways might be easier to get the required information from, and would also be good for beginners? Especially those new to multiplay.

Possibly if you have the whole line, but in terms of individual boxes, most would be quite boring at 1x! A lot of the fun is in the bits SimSig can't do - TRBs, token exchanges, the mandatory Highley Slice for lunch when working the obvious box. But Highley would be one train every 20 minutes, the crossing boxes are two at once every 45 - not much to go on for a multiplayer session.

I'm sure Gala style timetables could be written to make them more interesting?

And as a preserved railway signalman myself, I wouldn't say filling in the TRB is fun ... but that might be the amount of failures I've had lately

Even better if the line was extrapolated along potential (or downright unlikely!) extensions that previously existed: the Wyre Forest line to Tenbury Wells, the Hartlebury "main" line & of course, the the Bridgnorth to Shrewsbury section, including the line to Wellington & Much Wenlock. Much Guesswork needed for sim data, though!

Regarding the original topic, the Puddletown and District Railway (Paignton and Dartmouth to anyone not from Devon)
If it was ever to be considered, I could get some signal diagrams as I live in Paignton and my stepdad worked on the line for a while. As I go to school right next to the station at Churston, I could use an Art lesson to sketch out the track layout.

another idea on the "preserved lines" list could be the GCR (S)? it had double track throughout and the potential for busy working for each box (panel) and given the recent advance in AB working on worksop and nescot could potentially be interesting?

Yes yes yes yes yes! GCR is a fantastic line.

Just found out that there is a Track Circuit panel on the platform at Paignton (Queens Park) station, discovered by me and Tristan at the recent Heritage Gala. If any developer would like me to send them a photo of the diagrams of the track circuits, then drop me a PM.
