I'm not sure if this is a bug or whether it's supposed to happen, but I'll throw it out there and see what response I get. I've been all over the manual and I can't see anything about it, and there's no mention of it on the forum that I can see. I'm playing the 1976 Saturday TT, and 2D85 has just arrived at Blaenau platform (06.08). Now I wasn't watching when it arrived, but when I looked at the station a minute or so later, signal BFSTOP4 was off, despite the train (2D85L) not being due out until 07.00. I wasn't sure if this was normal as the manual does not mention it. So I did some playing around. First, I cancelled the route (with the inevitable AcoA for the driver), and after 30 seconds approach locking the signal came off again. So I abandoned the train's TT, reversed its direction (towards the blocks) and enabled No. 3 GF. I found that I could set a route towards the blocks from BFSTOP1, with BFSTOP4 still displaying a proceed aspect towards Llanwrst. The train departed towards the blocks and I received "2D85L has been sent onto a goods line", and there was also some track circuit bleed onto the first loop TC. On arrival at the blocks, BFSTOP4 reverted to red, but the stem of the signal remained white. It remained white during the entire run-round procedure (during which there was more TC bleed). I enabled No. 2 GF and allowed the train to run back towards Llanwrst. The signal stem of BFSTOP4 remained white. Once the train was in the section, I reversed direction again and ran it back towards Blaenau. Once stopped at BFSTOP6 I enabled No.2 GF and cleared the train into the platform. As soon as the train was back in the platform and I disabled the GF, BFSTOP4 came off again, and I was back where I started. Finally, I reversed direction and sent the train off to Llanwrst. The stem of BFSTOP4 remained white. So after all of this waffle, am I right in thinking that this is normal behaviour for BFSTOP4? Last edited: 14/12/2012 at 12:30 by lazzer Log in to reply |

It is indeed the way it is set up to work. The track circuit bleed is also intentional. I'm currently on a break in work but I can provide a more detailed post when I get home if you'd like? In real life BFSTOP4 does not exist. All the moves at the llanrwst end of the station are controlled by the ground frame operator; that is if the train needs to use the ground frame. Trains which don't need to use the ground frame simply travel back to llanrwst when the time comes. As such I've set the sim up so that BFSTOP4 automatically clears when a train occupies the platform track circuit. The track circuits bleed as there no "routes" from the stop boards. In reality there are no track circuits at all, but that would make it rather difficult to operate in Simsig. Once I'm home ill add a note to the manual about this as I'm sure it will come up again. If there's anything your still (or anyone else reading) is curious about just let me know and ill try and explain it a bit better. And hopefully this posts before I hit green lane tunnel. one thing that COULD be altered, is the route clearing way before the trains due departure time. you are effectively forced to put back on a train that is running round.

" said:one thing that COULD be altered, is the route clearing way before the trains due departure time. you are effectively forced to put back on a train that is running round.I will have a look into this as I'm currently working on Llanrwst panel (17 UWC crossings later), but you aren't forced to put back on a train running round. If it's got an activity to reverse at number 2 GF, you can just let the train go out past BFSTOP4 before releasing the frame.
