Playing though the 1985 timetable and seems a lot of the timing is rather...viscious, i.e 3A27/5A27 relies on cars coming off Barnstaple and has a scheduled departure time before the extra cars are scheduled to arrive. Also the Taunton run arounds are interfere with the HSTs scheduled for the same platform (requiring the run around to uncouple, run around, join and push off in under 11 minutes). Would likely work better if the entire train shunted to P5 then ran around. Additionally the New Yard run arounds stop at the release track when it should be a through time.

Question: How did Exeter handle all of these run arounds in '85 I had to keep Red Cow down for upwards of 12 minutes for all the shunts and services just to barely stay afloat.

Bear in mind that the track layout was changing radically around this time due to the Exeter resignalling work. The east end of St Davids was resignalled in March '85, the west end in May '85, but Taunton wasn't done until May '86, and Newton Abbot in May '87.

There was a post on the old forum with a work around for 3A27/5A27. I saved it at the time but haven't played Exeter or the 85 timetable since so haven't tried it out.

The post was as follows, hope it helps.

AndyD.

5C07 joining 1C07 platform 2 Exeter

This seems to be a database error of some sort.
After a bit of trial and error I have made the follwing timetable action changes whch seem to have got round the problem.

5C80 Change the actions on the last line to
DR:0C064 J:5C061 N:5A272

5A272 Change the actions on the first line to
DF:1C07 J:5A273

1C07 Change the actions on the first line to
DF:0A271 J:5C07

It takes a little longer for 0A271 to appear but it does not cause any delays.
