Hi,

Could someone help with explaining how I get the banker to appear? I have 7E951 sitting at Bromsgrove South but 0E951 does not appear. It seems to have executed the rule saying that it should not appear until 0 minutes after 7E951 stops at Bromsgrove South (the rule is greyed out) but the banker has not appeared. The appearance factor for 0E951 is set to 50% does this have a bearing on the situation? Apart from cancelling the join is there anything else I can do to get the train on its way?

Assuming you're running the 1985 TT, see the notes in the General tab of the TT editor:
"LICKEY BANKING
The incline banker is stabled in the bankers spur at Bromsgrove. YOU will need to assign this a new code when it is required by a freight or passenger train for banking. This is because services can arrive in different orders, and some only run on certain days, so automatic assignment is not feasible.
The banker is detached at Blackwell and runs back to the bankers spur ready for the next duty."

Initially you should have 0X00 as the banker sitting in the siding, so you need to re-assign its WTT to 0E951 by going to F2 Train list, right click on 0X00 and run to another TT, 0E951 in this case. (If 7E951 is already waiting, you 'may' have to abandon the rule.)
If that does the trick, just follow the TTs with the join and divide, once the banker is back in the siding, you can repeat the above for subsequent trains.

In defence of the wiki, don't forget that different timetables may have different ways of handling the banker(s). That is why the specific details for the TT you are using are included in the notes at the front of the TT rather than on the wiki.

Sorry, this still doesn't work for me. I am using the 2012 timetable. 6E49 is in the UGL at Bromsgrove. I had 0z99 in the banker siding and I have told it to "run to another timetable", namely 0E49. It just sits there, now identified as 0E49 but saying it is a "down" movement, and finished, no further trips.

I can tell it to reverse direction and clear the ground position light signals, and it will run up to 6E49 in the loop, but make no attempt to couple. 6E49 will sit there saying "Waiting for joining train 0E49" and after a while 0E49 says "Ready to start but 6E49 in front" but no attempt to couple.

What am I doing wrong?

Have you edited the Bromsgrove entry in the 0E49 TT to join 6E49 and similarly the Bromsgrove entry in the 6E49 TT to show J 0E49? Have you also checked that both trains are showing their current location as Bromsgrove (can be done through F2 and then right-click on the train and edit the TT if necessary).

Oh I see, you have to go into the timetable editor and alter them both. Thanks, I understand now. But the wiki guide notes don't refer to that at all.

No, I'm sorry, that's not right. The timetable for 6E49 already has J: 0E49 and 0E49 already has the instruction to join 6E49. There seems to be more to it than that.

Which timetable are you using? The Wiki contains a few generic methods of operation, but the exact implementation depends on the TT writer.

By that, I'm assuming you're referring to the Gloucester 2012 v1.2 timetable listed in the downloads section.

There's detailed instructions included with the 1985 timetable that comes with the sim, detailing how to use the banker.
In general:
When the train requiring banking arrives in the loop, open the train list (Press 'F2'), right-click on the banker and tell him to run to another timetable.
Ensure that you select the correct timetable (always look at the timetable for the train requiring banking, and select an exact match) - you may then need to select the loop to be the current/next location for the banker.

IF the banker has moved forward and is now stating that the freight train is in front of it, you need to ensure that the "current/next" location for both trains is the loop - this is easy to pick as it'll show as having a J: activity at that location.
When you click on the TD in the main view, you should get a pop-up timetable which shows all remaining locations and activities.
If you edit the timetable, via the F2 screen, you will see the current/next location highlighted in bold text.

This worked without fail for me when I last played Gloucester.

Thanks for trying to help. I have tried this with the 1985 timetable now, and the same thing happens. I admit the train needing a banker to the UGL. I go in F2 to the banker which is in the Banker Siding showing 0Z99, terminated, no more trips. I then right click and select Run to another timetable. I select in this case 0E95 as I have 7E95 in the loop. There is only one "next location" available, which is Bromsgrove (South). I click OK. The identity of the banker engine changes in F2 to 0E951 but it is still showing as a "down" movement and "terminated no more trips". And it doesn't move.

If I click "Reverse direction" in F2 and clear the gpl signals it will close up to 7E95 but not couple. 7E95 stands there "waiting for joining train 0E951" and 0E95 stands there saying "Ready to depart but train 7E951 in front".

From memory, there should be two Bromsgrove (South) locations listed and you need to select the second one.

Just to make sure that we are trying to solve the same problem, what is the location where F2 thinks each portion of the train is standing? Both locations need to be the same and also as the same as location in the TT where the join is due to take place.

Reading Afterbrunel's last posting, it very much looks as of 0E951 does not yet believe it has arrived at the join location. if that is the case, another try at setting the current/next location in both trains to the join location and an instruction to 0E951 to shunt forward may encourage things to start happening.

When you first select 'Run to Timetable', make sure you set the current location as the first Bromsgrove (South) Location. When the loco leaves the Banker Spur, the timetable should change to the second Bromsgrove (South) location

Well, at this moment I have them "joining trains". I'm not 100% sure what was different, but I think the point about there being two "Bromsgrove South"s in F2 is the solution. I had seen this before and assumed it was just a repetition of a single entry. Whatever, it seems to be working with this train -- only another dozen to come. Thanks to all who persevered with this for me.

Are you assigning the banker loco to the correct, exact banker loco timetable for the train to be banked? I say this because some trains are NLNN whilst some are NLNNN or NLNN-N (N being a number; L being a letter).
