Aston is another brilliant 'pocket' sim. I must admit to turning off Absolute Block and using ACI as there seems quite enough to do elsewhere. Knowing how intensive the Cross City service is, I can imagine this TT must have been difficult to write. A big 'thank you' to all involved. I can imagine that putting delays on this would be interesting.
On the subject of delays - when I was at New Street and during any serious disruption, some services, especially towards Lichfield occasionally terminated short for their back working, usually at Four Oaks or Sutton Coldfield. Unless I'm missing something, is it possible to somehow simulate this in the course of running the timetable?

The 2014 timetable actually didn't take that long to write, mostly because the majority of trains follow a clockface pattern. But thanks!

The easiest way of simulating it, short of writing a new timetable would be to stick delays and failures up high. Then manually turn trains round at Lichfield C/Blake St/Four Oaks as you wish by editting the TT or reassigning the next service.

To build on what peterb has said, you need to be careful about how you edit trains/TTs in times of perturbation as it is possible to edit then save a TT and over-write the original if you are not careful about what you are doing. The easiest way to do it without causing any danger of an over-write to the TT is to wait until the train you wish to turn is at the station where you are going to turn it back. Then go into F2, right click on the train and select "run to another TT". You can then pick up the train's normal return working or in times of extreme aggravation any other TT which is appropriate for the location and current time. Finally and again in F2 right click on the train again, go into "Edit TT", highlight the row in the TT for the train's current location and click on the button above the list of times to set the "Current/Next Location". If you don't do that the train will move forward but the TT will not step forward with the train and stops, reverses, next workings etc. do not get picked up properly. You will see in the TT that the train whose TT you have picked up where you do the turn-back shows in black rather than grey print (indicating that the TT thinks the train has not entered) but that is probably the least of your worries if you are having to run a proper railway on your computer.

Edit: Forgot to add that you will also need to change the TD showing on the display to reflect the new TT you have selected.

Could see a wish list idea here.....

To short turn a train, wouldn't it be easy to simply (F2) edit its TT by putting N:new ID at the appropriate location, and when it changes its spots on arrival, the simulation steps up the new TT to the appropriate location without user intervention.

I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Although you would equally need a way to indicate that you don't want the TT to auto-step-up, as I'm sure that there's cases where you wouldn't want it to. Probably just a simple checkbox or similar option to request auto step up would do.
