I'm sure to conform with Simsig's high standards they are, but just to be sure, are the track circuit identities used in the sims the same as on the real panels/workstations?

For the most part, yes - we aim to use the correct TC identities - It makes it so much easier when you're working off a diagram or scheme plan that what's on screen matches the 12ft ream of paper stretched out in the hallway! There are siutations where this is not the case though: 1) In Older sims, Geoff and the gang didn't have anywhere near the level of detail of information we use these days. It meant that sims such as Waterloo (to cite just 1 example) had completely fictional track circuits and indeed signal numbers. 2) In some situations it is not possible to use the real name for the TC - either because the real name is already used (in SimSig TCs must have a unique name) or because the TC has to be split internally into multiple tracks for level crossings and other such malarky. While on the subject of Track Circuits I noticed something a little strange. When you occupy Track Circuit T7 on Victoria Central a slot request is received from Victoria South Eastern. This also happens with Track Circuits T831 and T852 from Wimbledon. Although these Track Circuits do not appear on the panel.

Birmingham New Street was started some time ago but due to its complex interlocking and train shuffling, it didn't get finished until more recently. During that time more information came to light, including TC IDs. Rather than rewrite vast swathes of sim, it was decided to keep existing IDs where the layout was perfectly correct (albeit wrong IDs) but to redo bits with the correct IDs. The station itself was completely redone, plus Proof House Jn has two sets of IDs - the old and the new (and yes they overlapped so some compromise was required). Generally the 1-3 character IDs (T1 to T999 basically) are the "real" IDs; the four digit IDs are fictional on that particular sim. ozrail, stop fiddling with things you can't see! You might cause unintended consequences
